Having lived through the prison system myself, I’ve seen first-hand the trauma and challenges that come with it. That experience is what drives my passion for pushing real change. In my current role, I’m part of efforts to improve life inside not just for those living there, but for the system as a whole. One issue that doesn’t get talked about enough is the number of deaths in prison. It’s something that’s too often brushed aside. Being part of this team gives me the chance to help make sure prisoners’ voices are actually heard and respected. I genuinely believe that the more we understand about what happens when someone dies in custody, the better we can learn, prevent future tragedies, and raise awareness across the board..
